Voltage-controlled gain amplifier applied for temperature compensation in FBG dynamical sensing

In this work we propose a new electronic method for fiber Bragg grating (FBG) temperature compensation. This method uses a voltage-controlled gain amplifier (VCA) to compensation of temperature effects in a FBG sensing system that uses the edge filtering technique in the sensor's interrogator. We describe the technique and it application in a FBG vibration monitoring system. The results show a good performance with an error of ± 2%, in a range of around 0.4 nm. In addition, the circuit has a 40 kHz bandwidth that is enough for many FBG sensing applications.
