Heat losses in district heating network in dynamic regimes

In Bucharest-Romania about 72% of heat demand for residential, industrial and tertiary consumers is provided in District Heating Systems, so that heat losses are extremely important. Heat transport networks (from energy sources to substations) in Bucharest are summarizing over 987 km of transport pipelines. The District Heating System is obsolete in all its components, from source to consumers. An important measure towards energy saving was the thermal rehabilitation of the buildings. These measures can determine a heat demand up to 50% lower than initially design one. This article proposes a study of dynamic regimes of heat losses in the transport networks. A computer program was created which can be linked to a weather meteorological database, in order to evaluate total heat losses in different operating regimes. The results can then be easily processed into diagrams and graphics.
