Providing more with less: the new generation small form factor transceivers

We discuss a new generation of optoelectronic transceivers designed to meet the ever-growing need for bandwidth in the premise LAN environment. While optoelectronic transceivers have been used in LAN applications for more then 10 years, these small form factor (SFF) transceivers must operate at higher data rates and over longer links while using less system space then before.
