Experimental investigation on portable mini solar pond using sodium chloride salt

Renewable energy is becoming an important source of energy due to rise fossil fuels. Sunlight is a readily available source to convert into useful energy. Solar energy can be harnessed to meet our energy needs for a sustainable future. Solar energy is being used in many ways, but the easiest to trap solar energy is solar pond. In that the most hopeful technique is the salt gradient solar pond. In this research commonly used salt, sodium chloride is used in that temperature variations were found in different depths. The pond was located at 10.96° latitude and the walls were inclined at 45° to the horizontal. It is constructed with mild steel (1.6 mm thick) with a trapezoid surface area and with total depth of 1.7 m² and 500 mm. Then it is insulated with 20 mm, 2mm thick of thermo styrene and High Density Polyethylene sheet.
