Impacts of conservation voltage reduction on customer power quality in future networks

Conservation voltage reduction (CVR) is an energy conservation tool that various network operators have used to manage demand on their networks over the past few decades. Renewed interest in this approach, coupled with the changing composition of domestic electricity demand has prompted debate about the role of CVR within future networks. This paper discusses some of the contemporary power quality challenges that relate to changes in the load mix and how CVR may assist in alleviating some of these concerns.
