Noise Modelling for Power Line Communication in Harsh Environment

In this paper, a practical noise model including impulsive noise and background noise is proposed that best describes the noise conditions in harsh conditions. The noise presented on a power-line system is generated by the transients during the on/off switching of electric drill. The parameters of noise model were derived from measurements of the mains voltages by using data acquisition card and a digital signal processing program. The simulation shows that the results of proposed model are very akin to actual power line noise. Furthermore, we compare the performance of Middleton's noise model with the proposed model, it helps researcher to work independent of power line voltage and frequency in complex working environment.
