Multi-objective security constrained unit commitment problem using normal boundary intersection technique

Over a past year due to rapid industrialization and increased in the living standards of consumers, the electric power requirement is increasing globally and creating the great concern for environmental protection. This paper attempts to address efficient implementation of the Normal Boundary Intersection (NBI) technique for the trade-off between total cost and total emission during certain scheduling Interval with appropriate analysis methods. Two phases are considered to check the effectiveness of the proposed approach. In the first phase Security constrained unit commitment is solved considering voltage as controlled variable. In the second phase impact of contingency analysis on the unit commitment solution is performed. To solve the above problem formulation Gravitational Search Algorithm (GSA) is used. IEEE 30-bus systems is considered to check the performance of the proposed method and numerical results show that the near-optimal solution can be obtained efficiently by the proposed method.
