Automatic person information extraction using overlay text in television news interview videos

The growing amount of video data has raised the needs for automatic semantic information indexing and retrieval systems. Among the information sources of the video, the textual information becomes an important source of high-level semantics. This paper presents the framework for automatic person information extraction using overlay text in the television news interview video sequences. Therefore, one of the contribution of this paper is to help to build automatically indexing for broadcast news video archives. This system is based on many of the accepted production rules of the television news and the temporality of the video sequences. The experimental results on Korean television news video show that the proposed method efficiently realizes the automatic person information extraction in the news interview video sequences.
