Voltage-source-inverter-based conductance-signal-controlled shunt active power filter

A universal control method for shunt active power filters based on the notion of load equivalent conductance is presented. The considered technique is often referred to as the closed-loop indirect control, or the global compensation method. This technique is universal in use and may be easily implemented for three-phase network as well as for AC or DC ones. In the first part of the paper the general idea of the control method of the active filter, which is based on the load equivalent conductance signal, is described. Then computer simulations and laboratory tests are presented.
