Using consensus control for reactive power sharing of distributed electric springs

This paper studies the use of consensus control to coordinate distributed Electric Springs (ES) in addressing the voltage regulation and reactive power sharing problems in an isolated microgrid. Consensus control can ensure the collective operation of multiple ESs and a fair sharing of voltage regulation task among them. Low bandwidth communication infrastructure is sufficient for consensus control in supporting the communication between ESs and their neighbors. Theoretical analysis indicates that consensus control can guarantee a better voltage regulation and a more accurate reactive power sharing than droop control. Simulation of a 110 V distribution system confirms that consensus control can improve the performance of distributed ESs.
