Fiber Bragg grating FBG sensing temperature characteristic and application in water and air

Fiber Bragg gratings (FBGs) have been used as sensors for measuring temperature, vibration, and strain. This study uses FBGs to sense temperature in water and air. It is found that the relationship between the change in temperature and the change in wavelength is virtually linear in both environments making FBG a good candidate for sensing temperature. Our results also show that FBGs in the air can sense temperature better than FBGs in the water.
