Quantitative analysis of the effect Time Reversal Mirror on coherence bandwidth and delay spread

Underwater communication channel put various kind of challenges like extended delay spread, large Doppler shift and low coherence bandwidth. As a result of which communication at higher data rate becomes difficult, moreover it enhances the complexity in receiver design. Researchers working in this area have suggested many techniques to combat the problems asso-ciated with underwater channel. One of the state-of-the-art solutions devised to solve the problems associated with underwater channels is Time Reversal Mirror (TRM) technique. Analysis of TRM based equalizer had been carried out by many re-searchers, but quantification of the effect of TRM is not yet carried out to the best of our knowledge. Knowledge of its value will undoubtedly improvises the quality and data rate of communication. ork reported here provide quantitative analysis of TRM on delay spread and coherence bandwidth over Under Water Acoustic (UWA) channel for Single Input Single Output (SISO) and Multiple Input Single Output (MISO) case. Rsults obtained indicates that TRM improves UWA channel by reducing delay spread and increasing coherence bandwidth and enhances the effective data rate.
