Detection of underwater weak signal via matched stochastic resonance

According to the serious challenge of underwater acoustic detection under low signal-noise-ratio (SNR) conditions, the stochastic resonance (SR) would be likely applied to enhance the detection performance of underwater weak received signals. However, the way of adjusting system nonlinearity, noise intensity or signal structure to match arbitrary noisy signal is still a serious problem which can be hardly applied to underwater real time systems for the high computational costs. In this paper, we would propose a matched scheme that can meet the requirement of arbitrary noisy signal detection. The proposed matched stochastic resonance (MSR) framework is which to match the driving frequency, noise intensity and particle transition in a mathematical way. And the matching performance is evaluated which reflected the availability in matching arbitrary signals with different frequencies. To the further utlization, the MSR based energy detection model was given, and the improvement of detection probability compared with the conventional energy detection method is analysed and evaluated. Simulation results have verified the effectiveness of the proposed approach, especially in the region of low SNR circumstance.
