Development of a PCB kit for s-parameter de-embedding algorithms verification

This paper presents a methodology to verify the accuracy of fixture S-parameters de-embedding algorithms under different conditions. The methodology is based on being able to do a NIST traceable calibration measurement of the DUT and of the DUT plus test fixture. This then allows comparing the results of any de-embedding algorithm with the measured DUT. A kit composed of several small printed circuit boards with coaxial edge connectors was developed for wideband digital applications. Critical for this methodology is the use of calibration grade coaxial adapters to create a NIST traceable measurement reference plane.
