Voltage quality improving in power distribution networks with abruptly variable load by application of reactive power series compensation devices

The article studies the effect of abruptly variable load on quality parameters of electrical power at the point of common coupling. The research topicality is determined by the need for meeting national standard requirements GOST 32144-2013 in the public mains network. Thus, the purpose of the article is to demonstrate the effectiveness of direct reactive power compensation devices of application as the means to minimize the work of current-using equipment at abruptly variable load on the voltage quality. The main method of the research is analysis of the electrical loads graphs in the low-power current-using equipment producing voltage fluctuations. To carry out quantitative studies of energy consumption modes and to assess the quality of electrical power after connecting new equipment, the operating model of these consumers has been developed. The article describes the main techniques of a) finding an opportunity for cooperative power supply of household consumers and consumers with abruptly variable load, and b) choosing the reactive power series compensation batter. These techniques are based on the spectrum analysis of voltage change ranges. The experimental results of the research may help a) to enhance operational reliability of switch internetwork equipment, and b) to carry out prevention and correction activities for electrical power quality increase in the public mains networks.
