Study of ships electrification

Modern society is inextricably linked to the use of electric energy in many areas of his life and activities. The fleet is no exception, which is equipped with electrical items of various complexity. Currently, hundreds of thousands of commercial, fishing, passenger and other ships are operational and perform their functions. Further progress in the field of shipboard electrical equipment is closely linked with the overall development of industrial production and development trends of the fleet. The construction of ships for various purposes, displacement and velocity, causes the necessity for the development and creation of diverse, sometimes fundamentally new technical solutions, optimization of the mechanical characteristics of electrical equipment, of increased capacity and improve reliability. A retrospective review is required to secure setting correct priorities while solving the tasks of ship electrical equipment development. The paper studies the development of ship electrical engineering and analyses the existing assessments of the electrification of vessels for various applications. In order to add to and update the assessments of ship electrification the authors suggested a coefficient that accounts for shortcomings of the existing coefficients. The results of processing of statistical materials were used for the calculation of electrification coefficients for common series of marine transportation vessels in the Russia's Far East and the rest of Russia.
