Modern electrical equipment of ships includes relatively sophisticated technical products, which are of great diversity in terms of both their functional purpose, and electrical power. To assess the reliability different methods are used. In the study of reliability of ship electrical equipment one must take into account its specific features, which do not allow for the full interpretation of the methods, thoroughly developed for other technical devices, in particular automatics, computers and electronics. This paper discusses the application of reliability theory to analytical studies of the technical operation of a ship's electrical equipment.
