Heat load control in steam boilers

This article describes the automated control systems of steam boiler modes at the electric power plant applying the criterion of using the minimum natural gas amount. This system is based on the electric power station the steam boilers of which operate using a mixture of fuel gases with unstable characteristics and which generate steam for the entire steam supply line. In this system, one of the most significant aspects is the subsystem of the combustion rate control designed for sustaining the preset steam consumption rate at the boiler's exit. This subsystem is reviewed together with the steam pressure controller in the main steam pipe. The combustion rate controller operates basing upon the heat absorption efficiency impulse. This impulse represents a sum of steam consumption impulses from the boiler and the velocity of change in the boiler drum pressure. The signal output of the combustion rate controller impacts the control valve of natural gas. Studies have been conducted on combustion rate controllers at steam boilers of the electric power plant. These studies proved the controller's efficiency.
