Design of photoconductive antenna using spatially dispersive graphene strips

In this paper, a graphene-based photoconductive antenna (GPCA) is designed using graphene strips with parallel palate configuration. By applying an electrostatic gating, the Fermi level in the graphene strips is shifted and this provides a tunable GPCA. The graphene strips are separated by thin buffer layer which are strongly coupled together so that this configuration provides more tunability for designing a GPCA. Simulation results reveal that this configuration can be replaced by a single graphene strip so that analysis and design of the GPCA is considerably simplified.
