Beam steering system using rotman lens for 5G applications at 28 GHz

In this paper, the design, simulation and fabrication of a five input and six output Rotman Lens switched-beam patch antenna array are described. The steering system was produced on Rogers substrate RO3006 which makes the proposed system low cost and ease of fabrication. The result shows the system capability of steer the beam for different five angels in range of -45°, -22.5°, 0°, +22.5°, and +45°. The designed steering system provides a cost effective approach for using in the 5G wireless communications at 28 GHz. The simulation and measurement results show good return loss, true time delay performance and steering capability.
