Morphological structure optimization for 3D nano ZnOw microwave absorbing material

Morphological structure has a decisive influence on the microwave absorbing properties of three-dimensional (3D) nano zinc oxide whisker (ZnOw) material. However, due to the complexity of the microstructure, it is still a difficult challenge to develop a fast and accurate optimization method for this kind of nanostructured material. Hence, as an attempt, we enhance the generality of our optimization method, which is based on the effective electromagnetic parameters, by using the imitative prismatic stand volume formula in the radius expression of the equivalent spherical particle. Then, the morphological structure of a nanostructured ZnOw composite is optimized to obtain desired microwave absorbing properties. The results demonstrate that on the one hand the absorbing properties can be further improved by morphology design without changing the existing macroscopic structure; on the other hand a more general approach can be adapted to the fast development of such interesting nanostructured material.
