Single-bit compressive imaging system for the mmW and THz bands

We present, a novel 64 × 64-pixel imaging system utilizing a low-cost single-bit comparator sensor and a compressive sensing algorithm for mmW and THz bands. To validate the proposed methodology, a photoexcited high-resistivity Silicon wafer is used as the spatial light modulator and a 2-port vector network analyzer is used as the source-receiver pair. Recording only the “sign” of the measured signal, the proposed approach can reconstruct 4K-pixel image of the scene using only 1,024 measurements at 690 GHz.
