Broadband monostatic simultaneous transmit and receive reflector antenna system

A broadband reflector antenna with monostatic simultaneous transmit and receive (STAR) capability is introduced. The proposed antenna operates over 4-8GHz with VSWR <; 2, gain > 21dBic (with a maximum gain of 28dBic @ 8GHz), and high isolation. A dual-polarized coaxial cavity antenna is designed and used as reflector feed. The monostatic STAR capability is achieved by the use of a simple beamformer network and circulators arranged to cancel any signal leakage from TX to RX paths leading to hypothetically infinite system isolation. Practically, the proposed system achieves isolation > 30dB limited by the imperfections of the used COTS components.
