A self-resonant reconfigurable diversity antenna for mobile phone with full metal housing

A self-resonant reconfigurable diversity antenna for smart phone with full metal housing is presented. The proposed antenna is formed by using a IFA-like strip and a looplike strip to respectively provide resonances in high band and low band, thereby supporting LTE700/GSM850/GSM900/DCS band. The low band bandwidth is enhanced by integrating a passive reconfigurable structure. The total efficiency of the proposed antenna is better than 30% in low band and 40% in high band. Details of the antenna structure are presented. Simulated results such as S-parameter, efficiency, gain and radiation pattern are also presented and discussed.
