IPMSM for hybrid electric vehicle using DSP based three-level diode clamped inverter

Electric Propulsion Systems (EPS) are the vital components of the Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEV). They comprise of Electronic Controller, Power Converter and Electric Motor. The essential attributes of electric motors used in HEV are high power density, high starting torque, wide range of speed control, high efficiency, good reliability and robustness. Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors (PMSM) have these characteristics which offer best suitability to HEV's. This paper presents the implementation of three-phase three-level diode-clamped inverter whose output is given to 3-phase, 4-pole, 400V, 50Hz, 0.45 KW, 1500RPM, Interior PMSM. DSP TMS320f28335 Controller is used. The performance of IPMSM is analyzed using different modulation techniques for three-level diode clamped inverter. DC Generator is coupled with IPMSM for analyzing its performance characteristics.
