High performance readout module based on ZYNQ with giga ethernet

ZYNQ is now gradually becoming a popular and suitable architecture of FPGA with dual high performance ARM Cortex-A9 processors in the application of data acquisition and readout system of nuclear electronics. Many typical readout system use ZYNQ for running Embedded Linux, dealing with the data between high speed ADC, DAC and real time logic. We have designed the first generation of readout module for HPGe detector's DAQ of CDEX (China Dark Matter Experiment) in the CJPL (China Jingping Underground Laboratory) based on ZYNQ XC7Z010 CLG225 footprint in the early of 2014. More than 10 readout systems are based on this module, reach a fantastic performance, full of system flexibility. A new readout module based on ZYNQ XC7Z020 CLG400 footprint is developed recently with more LVDS IO channels and more logic resources for interfacing to multi ADCs and DACs, still in the same 56mm × 42mm compact size as the previous first generation. We will introduce how about the architecture of the new readout module, the data throughput performance of CDMA between DDR3 SDRAM and buffer with external data input.
