Intelligent car safety system

Safety is the most important feature in modern cars, and accordingly it has attracted attention of many researchers and developers in the car designing field. Fatalities of car accidents due to the drowsey driving and not fastening seat belt increases dramaticlly. In this context, an attempt has been made to designing a car safety system whereby the car will not run unless the driver buckle up and driver will be alert if drowsiness is detected. In the proposed system the NeuroSky Mind-wave headset is used to capture different electroencephalogram (EEG) levels. In addition to this, a limit Switch electrical circuit is designed and attached between the seat belt and the ignition system to control the engine starting. Finally, Arduino microcontroller with its software is used as a signal processing unit to control the safety system in the car. The experimental results show that the system is accurately able to enhance the safety aspect of drivers.
