Generalized characteristic basis function definitions for efficient antenna array analysis in 2D

A generalization of the Characteristic Basis Function Method (CBFM) for antenna array analysis is proposed, where overlapping subdomains are defined over multiple antenna elements as opposed to the conventional single antenna element approach. Generalized primary and secondary order CBFs are constructed in the context of a two-dimensional (2D), Method of Moments (MoM) solver. Numerical results for a dense, linear antenna array show that significantly fewer generalized CBFs are required to obtain results of similar accuracy than with the conventional CBFM.
