A novel precise angle measurement for meter-wave radar based on multipath cancellation

Direction of Arrival (DOA) estimation of low-altitude target is a difficult problem due to the multipath coherent interference from the ground reflection, especially for meter-wave radar whose antenna is restricted severely in its aperture and height. A novel precise angle measurement for meter-wave radar based on multipath cancellation is proposed in this paper. First, combine vertical polarized component and horizontal polarized component of the signal in suitable amplification and phase delay to eliminate the multipath influence by means of the phase and magnitude of vertical and horizontal polarized reflection coefficient are different to each other. Then, use the amplitude comparison monopulse method to estimate the angle of target. Aiier that, the multipath cancellation monopulse method is established. Results of computer simulation indicates that the proposed method outperform conventional monopulse method under the given multipath condition.
