Measurements ambiguity resolution in phase direction finders of forward-scattering radar systems

Ambiguity resolution of Doppler and azimuth measurements in forward-scattering radar systems (FSR) is considered. Transmitter of quasi-harmonic continuous signal and spatially separated receivers with amplitude detection of received signals are used in radar systems. Signals at the outputs of amplitude detectors are processed in FSR. In this case positive sign of these signals frequency may be differ from Doppler frequency shift sign of scattered signal, and sign of the phase difference of these signals may be differ from azimuth sign. Solving the problem is divided into two parts. In the first part target moves in the horizontal plane xOy (radar placement plane). In the second part target moves above plane xOy. In both cases the ambiguity resolution methods are based on analysis of motion model, in which target moves uniformly in straight lines, and on analysis of Doppler frequency shift, azimuth, frequency of signals at the detectors outputs and phase difference of these signals as a functions of time. The character of these functions is the result from the applied motion model. Represented ambiguity resolution methods significantly expand the possibilities for organizing FSR and make it easier to design of systems design.
