A study on New Urbanism and Compact city and their influence on urban mobility

There is a rapid urbanization happening throughout the world. Urban planners and policy makers are looking at various disruptive approaches for the revival of inner cities to accommodate the increasing urban population and their transportation demands. The effective utilization of mass transit systems and walkable cities are becoming the prime focus of urban development. On this backdrop, this paper studies the concepts of New Urbanism and Compact city to understand their capability and extent for a much needed urban restructure. This paper also touches on the new trends in urban mobility and influence of information and communication technology for the future growth of cities.
