Pulse response analysis of quasi-peak detector in EMI receiver

The characteristics and performance of EMI receivers along with their calibration requirements are specified in CISPR 16-1-1 standard. This paper discuses about the calibration of pulse response characteristics of quasi-peak detectors at different input pulse amplitude levels. During the calibration of pulse response of quasi-peak detector in EMI receivers it is observed that the responses of quasi-peak detector vary with respect to the input pulse amplitude level. The CISPR 16-1-1 standard doesn't give a specific pulse amplitude / voltage level setting in `EMI calibration pulse generator' used for EMI receiver calibration. In the absence of specific set level, different manufacturers give different input level in which their receivers are to be calibrated. The effect of input pulse amplitude level on pulse response characteristics of EMI receivers of different manufacturers/models are analysed and presented in this paper along with experimental data.
