Video based human fall detection using von Mises distribution of motion vectors

In the area of health safety, technologies and products related to the person's fall are greatly demanded. Therefore, an effective system is a necessity to provide urgent support and reduce the effects and costs of fall-related medical care. Our article presents a method of fall detecting for elderly. In fact, this approach is based on the application of the statistical distribution of von Mises on the detected motion vectors extracted by optical flow.
