An improved method for MPPT for wind solutions using Newton Raphson technique with stability analysis of the optimal power curve

The increasing stress on the rapidly diminishing conventional sources of energy like coal and fossil fuels and the devastating ramifications posed by their use in energy production has compelled man to look for cleaner and voluminous alternative sources of energy. Among the various renewable sources of energy, wind happens to be the most abundant and omnipresent one. However, there are various implications that arise when it comes to designing of efficient wind generators and integrating these systems into the main grid. Enhancement of the overall efficiency is a major cause of concern due to certain unavoidable constraints in the mechanical design of these turbines. In this paper, a novel MPPT algorithm optimized by Newton Raphson technique based on hill climbing search (HCS) strategy has been implemented for a wind turbine cascaded with a permanent magnet synchronous generator subjected values of wind velocity. The eligibility of the proposed methodology has been highlighted through in depth analysis of the stability of the system for operation along the optimal power reference curve obtained by the algorithm.
