Adaptability theory modeling of time variant subscriber distribution in cellular systems

The increasing demand of mobile telecommunications systems has raised the efficient usage of available resources. In order to optimize the resource use, the understanding of population dynamics is fundamental as is its impact on the offered load, location area design and paging process. This paper analyzes the feasibility of several dynamic population models for modeling of population distribution in an urban environment. Models based on the competition principles of biologic species are shown to be suitable for area mobility characterization. The model interprets the major human activity centers like attraction zones of population, which determine the population sizes with time through competition processes. Observation of the population distribution behavior is employed to estimate the offered load variations during the day.
