Review on fault diagnosis in active distribution networks with distributed generation

The penetration of distributed generation (DG) in distribution power system would affect the traditional fault current level and characteristics. Consequently, the traditional protection arrangements developed in distribution utilities are difficult in coordination. Also, the operation and planning of distribution scheme would be affected. Moreover, the higher demands of power supply make the system optimization more difficult. With the rapid developments in distribution systems automation and communication technology, active distribution network (ADN) attracts more and more attention to the world. The concept of management systems is introduced. Finally future research means and trends are indicated.
