CAS aided braking for better energy recuperation

This paper provides a review of state-of-the-art technology and recent developments in Collision avoidance system (CAS) and Anti-lock braking systems (ABS) using the actuation of electric motors. This paper also proposes a methodology where composite ABS is assisted by collision avoidance system to enhance the safety and boost the energy recuperation in electric vehicles (EV). Considering an EV with 4 individually controlled hub motors we emphasize range extension by energy recovery through braking system. CAS is one of the safety subsystems found in automobiles and is being tried to integrate with other subsystems on board, which includes composite ABS, wherein braking is accomplished by both hydraulic friction braking and motor electric braking in combination. Energy harness is possible as motor is a part of braking system
