Analysis of different Spectrum Sensing techniques

Increased demand of wireless spectrum in current wireless environment needs the proper utilization of spectrum. Cognitive Radio (CR) is defined as the technology which handles the problem of spectrum underutilization in the wireless media. Sensing is the main objective of CR. There are different algorithms available for spectrum sensing which includes Energy based detection, Matched filter detection, Cyclostationary Feature detection and others. It has been observed that channels in the wireless environment suffer from fading and hidden node problem. Due to this, there is an exponential decay in signal strength over transmission in wireless channel. We have analyzed Relay based Cooperative Spectrum Sensing, and it has been found to overcome these problems.
