Volt/var control method considering limited switching operations based on the cluster approach

In this paper new method for voltage and reactive power control in passive distribution networks is proposed. This method considers limited number of switching operations actual for distribution networks with overweared equipment. This situation is common for Russian networks and proposed algorithm aimed to improve power quality by efficient voltage and reactive power control. Algorithm based on cluster approach. It analyses changing of objective function in time to dispatch control actions. Test example are shown for a fragment of real network from Moscow region with measured load profile. All simulations and analysis were conducted in Matlab using Matpower.
