Catenary-free electric bus system and distribution networks: An Italian case study

Nowadays in many countries, the increasing influence of sustainable mobility systems are influencing distribution networks, often characterized by a fragmented scenario in which diffuse generation (DG) in particular from not-programmable Renewable Energy Resources (RES) and storage technologies are causing both criticalities and new opportunities for the network operation. This paper considers the featured spread of catenary-free electric bus systems in the Italian distribution network framework. An investigation about the impact of flash charging system on Italian sample infrastructure is conducted. Simulation tests results on grid performances under charging conditions are given like consideration about the practicability of the solution.
