Proposal of isolated outlet socket and plug using capacitive power transfer

This paper proposes the novel isolated capacitive power transfer outlet socket and plug using comb type capacitor. The detachable comb capacitor is proposed as a power supply connector. The target power at the first stage is decided as 100W. At first, optimization of structure and material of capacitive connectors is investigated in order to realize easy attachment and detachment. After consideration, the comb type structure is selected and Teflon is employed as an insulator. The proposed system is based on LC series resonance. The two types of load-side rectifier are employed then compared from the view point of transfer power. From simulation analysis, it was clarified that higher power transfer was realized using capacitor-input type rectifier. Power transfer of 15W was experimentally realized using choke-input type rectifier. Further enhancement of power transfer is discussed using equivalent circuit obtained from experimental result. Power transfer of 15W is experimentally realized using the current experimental equipment.
