Liquid radiation detectors-basics and applications

The basic properties of liquid rare gases with regard to ionization, scintillation, and electron swarm behavior are reviewed with a view to application to radiation detectors. In measurements of low energy gamma rays and/or electrons by ionization, the problem of energy resolution needs to be solved. The application of scintillation for radiation detectors is discussed with a recent proposal on double beta decay search.
