Metallic doors under explosive charges detonation

Metallic doors are used to protect buildings or facilities against entrance of persons or against attacks with different mechanical or explosive systems. On the other hand, special cases (hostage rescue or release of the survivors trapped under rubble) require door breaching. For both situations, the behavior of metallic doors under contact detonation or blast is necessary to be determined. This paper addresses the behavior of metallic doors under contact detonation in order to create breaches. In this respect two different kinds of special explosive devices were used: cutting and pushing charges. The paper under consideration presents the overall findings of the experimental and numerical research regarding breaching in metallic doors using these two kinds of explosive charges.
