Diagnosis engine oils utilizing infrared spectroscopy

The article presents the selected findings to identify the opportunities and ongoing changes in quality parameters of motor oils, indications of possible failure modes of machinery as internal combustion engines etc., confirmation or rejection of the hypotheses about confusing the engine oil by means of infrared (IR) spectroscopy. Creating user-defined libraries of the IR spectra allows the routine use in tribodiagnosis.
