Effective speed tracking of induction motors using microcontroller-based intelligent control

This study proposes a scheme for designing a speed controller to achieve desirable servo tracking of an induction machine (IM). First, a voltage/frequency controlled IM framework is adopted due to its simplicity. Next, the proposed approach introduces the modified Ziegler-Nichols PID in conjunction with a fuzzy logic controller (FLC). The FLC is designed based on the output signal of the PID controller for yielding adequate torque commands. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed approach can achieve superior robust velocity tracking. To date, the proposed scheme is being implemented using a microcontroller.
