Unsteadies of the car radar imaging in dynamics

At the present time the serious problem of guaranteeing safety of automobile transport movement control in conditions of limited optical visibility (i.e. fog, snow, rain, dust, smoke and the like) is being dealt with by the creation of radar systems for the prevention of collisions with obstacles located on the road. One of the main directions of investigation for this problem is the development of a front surveying automobile imaging radar (AIR). This system forms the images of cars, the road, and various objects located on the road or near it. For an AIR of this type, some difficult additional problems can be solved. One of the important requirements of the system is the quality of the radio images formed. Ideally, the quality of the radio images would be as good as optical images, because the AIR must not only to be able to determine the presence of obstacles, but also to recognized and identify them too. The conducted theoretical and first experimental investigations have shown that the radar images of obstacles formed by the radar are characterized by instability of the radio images, which does not allow for recognition/identification of the targets. Unsteadiness of the car radar imaging dynamics are analyzing and discussed in this paper. Methods for decreasing the radar imaging unsteadiness, including isotropic and wideband methods, are discussed.
