Photovoltaic power plant in Florianópolis: A case study

Photovoltaic power plants provide alternative and renewable energy. Besides that, the sun is an infinite and costless source, which supplies them. I addition to that, photovoltaic systems has low maintenance costs. Problems may occur if a set of equipment presents the same defect and cannot rely on the manufacturers collaboration to solve it. This paper presents the Megawatt Solar situation, 1 MWp photovoltaic power plant installed and operated by Eletrosul. The company is located in Florianópolis, Brazil, where there are about 62 inverters broke down. The tests performed to identify the cause of the problems, the solution proposed by Eletrosul team and the results of the improvements are discussed as follows.
