GPSS language as tool for reliability simulations

In this article, the use of the universal environment GPSS is suggested, which is intended to perform discrete reliability simulations on systems for mass service. This is achieved by using various distributions included into the program pack, which practically cover all items in the reliability analysis. Simulation can be performed on Markov and semi-Markov processes and the connected with them Poisson flows, and the reliability interpretations, which are based on a system of differential equations of Kolmogorov, to be illustrated in a very clear way. According to the authors' studies, the simulation environment GPSS is competitive to the existing reliability programs, i.e. it ofïers better flexibility when certifying the workload (analogous to the intensity of failures) and parameters of service (respectively intensity of recovery). In the environment, independent failures and general failures could be easily modeled. In the example a homologous TMR system is observed.
