Application of geometric diversity on bi-static circular synthetic aperture radar

Bi-static circular synthetic aperture radar (BCSAR) can realize high resolution imaging of the complex scenario and avoid sheltering due to the straight line propagation of wave. However, it still encounters ring effect and high sidelobe problem due to the discontinuity of Fourier sampling space and limited signal bandwidth, which causes severe performance degradation in practical applications. In this paper, a new BCSAR, referred to as geometric diversity based BCSAR (GD-BCSAR) is presented, then its Fourier sampling space and image resolution are studied. GD-BCSAR breaks through the limitation of signal bandwidth, it can obtain a greater area in Fourier sampling space even with narrow bandwidth, and decrease the discontinuity of Fourier sampling space, thus, eliminating the ring effect and resulting in an improvement in sidelobe reduction. The simulated results are presented to verify the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed GD-BCSAR framework and the corresponding imaging algorithm.
