Observer-based predictive current controller for grid-connected single-phase wind converter

This paper aims to develop and test a new approach for improving the performance of predictive current controllers used in grid-connected ac-dc power electronic converters (PECs) wind turbine. The proposed approach employs an observer feedback in order to minimize the controller sensitivity to variations in system parameters. The design of the predictive controller with the observer feedback loop, along with the stability and performance analyses is conducted on experimental levels. The experimental testing of the observer-based predictive current controller is carried out for 12 kW single-phase power converter, where the proposed controller is implemented using DSP board. Finally, the total harmonic distortion (THD) comparison is used to demonstrate the potential advantages of the proposed current controller over the traditional predictive controller.
